“It was a very relaxed setting and the host was wonderful. I was solo, but he sat me with 2 women traveling together and we had a great discussion about travel and other things. He gave details about the wine and told us to let us know if we didn't drink red wine and he would substitute something else. I tasted 3 wines: a sparkling rose, a white and a red. To me, the sparkling rose was the best, I bought a bottle, and the red was second. The white was okay, but it had an aftertaste which I didn't enjoy. We were not rushed thru our tasting even though…”

Salzburg Food Tasting Tour: delicious & fun

4.Salzburg Food Tasting Tour: delicious & fun

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 29 reviews · 3 hours (approx.)

Spend three hours walking Salzburg’s Old Town with a private English-speaking guide. Taste Mozartkugeln, market specialties, sourdough bread, coffee, dessert, and a local dish while learning about salt, beer, Mozart, and Salzburg’s food traditions. Guides may include Michaela, Hilda, Naomi, or Claudia.

“This tour was so fabulous. My college-age daughter and I were the only two on the tour, so what could have been awkward was actually quite fun. Our guide was both a wealth of knowledge and fun. As expected, she knew all the shop owners at sites we visited, and we had a blast trying different vinegars, wines, foods and spices. The highlight was a HUGE pretzel with meat and cheese that we bought at the market, although every stop was interesting, tasty and fun. TAKE THIS TOUR. You'll be glad you did.”

Guided Wine Tasting in a Hidden Wine Bar

5.Guided Wine Tasting in a Hidden Wine Bar

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 12 reviews · 45 minutes (approx.) · from $45

Meet at De Gustibus on Bergstraße for a 45-minute tasting led by a wine host. You’ll try three Austrian wines, paired with regional spreads and small local snacks. Choose the premium option for three additional wines and a second stop. Expect a small group of up to 10 people and English service.

“When your host drinks more than you do on the tour, without actually giving you education or knowledge about Austrian wine outside of the label on the bottle, two stars is generous. The wine was good and they did give us an option on what kind of wine (red, white, etc.) but it was well below our expectations for a large amount of money.”
